How I ended up here

I'm getting married on October 10, 2026. It should be one of the happiest periods of my life. Instead, I'm carrying a secret that has been getting heavier every day. I lost my money to a scam. My fiancΓ©e doesn't know. She believes the money we were counting on is still with me, and I've been terrified of telling her that it isn't. At one point, I felt completely helpless. I called my mother and cried. I didn't know how I was going to recover the money, prepare for my marriage, and get myself out of the situation I'd created. My mother suggested something I never thought we'd have to consider: "Sell the land." But it isn't my land. It's my mother's land, and it belongs to my family β€” including my three siblings. That hit me hard. My mother was willing to give up something that belonged to our family to help me get out of a situation that was mine to deal with. And my siblings would be giving up part of something that belongs to them too. I couldn't feel right about that. Before letting my mother sell something our family owns because of a mistake that happened to me, I wanted to try everything I could to find another way. So I built debt.bid. It's a simple internet experiment. There's a leaderboard. If you want the top spot, you have to bid more than the person currently above you. Your payment contributes toward clearing my debt, and your name moves up the board. No investment. No promise of a return. No prize waiting at the end. Just an admittedly ridiculous idea to turn a very difficult moment in my life into something fun enough for the internet to participate in. Maybe nobody bids. Maybe this goes nowhere. Or maybe a bunch of strangers on the internet will compete so hard for the #1 spot that they actually help me get out of this mess before I get married. Either way, I figured it was worth trying before my family has to give up something that belongs to all of them because of what happened to me. My debt. Your bid. Welcome to debt.bid.
